Getting started

Up and running in under 10 minutes.

Mathvance is designed to be simple for parents to set up and immediately engaging for students. Here's exactly how it works — from sign-up to first session.

The big picture

Four steps from signup to progress.

👨‍👩‍👧

Step 1

Parent signs up

Create your parent account — free, no credit card needed.

🔗

Step 2

Invite your child

Share your unique invite code so your child's account links to yours.

📐

Step 3

Child takes the assessment

A 10-minute diagnostic finds exactly where your child is in math.

📈

Step 4

Track real progress

Watch your child advance skill by skill — you see everything.

For parents

How you use Mathvance.

You're in charge of setup and visibility. Your child does the learning.

1

Create your parent account

Sign up at mathvance.com and select Parent as your account type. This gives you a parent dashboard — separate from the student learning experience. Your account is free to create and always will be.

Important: Choose Parent when signing up — you can't change this later, and a parent account gives you the dashboard view your child's account doesn't have.

Your invite code

Share this code with your child

MV-4829

Found in your Profile page

Your child enters this code during their signup. Once entered, your accounts are permanently linked.

2

Share your invite code with your child

Once your account is created, go to your Profile page. You'll find a unique invite code — something like MV-4829. Text it, write it down, or tell your child directly.

Your child enters this code when they sign up. The moment they do, their account is linked to yours — and you'll be able to see their progress.

3

Check the progress dashboard

Your parent dashboard shows you everything: which skills your child has mastered, their current difficulty level, how many minutes they've practiced this week, and their accuracy over time.

If you have multiple children using Mathvance, you can switch between them from the same dashboard.

Upgrade tip: The free plan shows basic progress. Upgrade to Premium to unlock the full skill breakdown, AI-generated weekly summaries, and 60-day activity history.

For students

What your child actually does.

The student experience is built to feel like a game — not a worksheet.

📐

Step 1

Take the placement assessment

A 10-minute diagnostic — 15 to 20 questions — figures out exactly where your child's math understanding is strong and where the gaps are. No grade is assigned. It just finds the right starting point.

Takes about 10 minutes. Can be completed on any device.
🗺️

Step 2

Get a personalized learning path

Based on assessment results, Mathvance builds a sequence of skills tailored to your child — starting just below their ceiling so early wins come quickly and confidence builds from the first session.

The path updates automatically as they progress.

Step 3

Practice daily — 10 to 15 minutes

Each session is a short burst of adaptive practice. Questions get harder when answers are right, easier when they're wrong. The system tracks mastery over multiple sessions — not just a single score.

Mastery requires consistent correct answers across sessions, not a one-time perfect score.

Premium features

Go deeper with the tools that drive real motivation and precision.

Premium adds two powerful features for parents who want to take a more active role in their child's progress.

Feature 1

Set milestones. Attach real rewards.

Parents who connect practice to real-world rewards see dramatically higher student follow-through. Mathvance lets you attach a specific reward to any milestone — so when your child hits it, they've earned something tangible, not just a badge.

Think of it like a chore chart — but for math. Set the goal, name the reward, and let Mathvance track the progress automatically. Your child sees the milestone and the reward on their screen every time they practice.

How to set one:

Go to your Progress dashboard → Milestones → Add milestone. Pick the skill goal, write the reward, and optionally set a target date. That's it.

Feature 2

Upload your child's scores. Mathvance AI builds the plan.

Most tutoring tools ignore the data you already have. Mathvance does the opposite — you can upload your child's existing assessment results, teacher notes, and standardized test scores, and the Mathvance AI combines everything into a single, precise learning plan.

The result isn't a generic grade-level path. It's a plan that knows your child's specific gaps, reflects what their teacher sees in the classroom, and targets the exact skills that will move the needle fastest.

Questions

Common questions.

Does my child need me to sign up first?

No — your child can sign up independently without a parent account. But if you want to track their progress, you'll need to create a parent account and share your invite code with them.

What grade levels does Mathvance cover?

Mathvance currently covers Grades 6–8. We're expanding — Grades 4–5 and Algebra/Geometry content are in development.

What if my child is behind their grade level?

That's exactly what the assessment is for. Mathvance will place your child at the right starting point — even if that's below their current grade — so they build real understanding instead of skipping over gaps.

How long should my child practice each day?

Sessions are designed for 10–15 minutes. Shorter daily practice beats longer weekly sessions — consistency is what builds mastery.

Can I link more than one child?

Yes. Each child creates their own account with your invite code. You can switch between them in your parent dashboard.

What's included in the free plan?

The free plan includes the full student experience — assessment, learning path, daily practice, badges, and milestones. Premium adds the full parent progress dashboard with skill breakdown, AI weekly summaries, and 60-day activity history.
